Getting started
What is Finley?
Finley is a payment app from Pioneer Finance for shopping in store in New Zealand. Apply once from your phone, then pay with Revolving Credit every time you're at the counter — no sign-up fee, no monthly fee.
Who can apply?
You need to be 18 or over, a New Zealand resident with a New Zealand address, bank account and mobile number, and able to pass our identity checks. Approval is never guaranteed, and every application is assessed for affordability.
Does it cost anything to open a Finley account?
No. There's no sign-up fee and no monthly account fee. See our Terms & fees page for the full picture, including interest rates and when they apply. Terms & fees
How long does approval take?
Most decisions come back quickly once you've completed identity verification and connected a bank account for an affordability check. If you're approved, you'll see your credit limit before you agree to anything.
What if my application is declined?
We may decline any application at our discretion — every application is assessed against our responsible lending obligations under the CCCFA, including affordability. A decline doesn't stop you reapplying later if your circumstances change.
How do I contact Finley?
In the app under Help, by phone on 0800 000 724, by email, or by post to Pioneer Finance Limited, PO Box 37084, Parnell, Auckland 1052.
Revolving Credit
How does Revolving Credit work?
It's an ongoing account. Eligible purchases carry an interest-free period, and any balance you don't repay within it starts accruing interest. There's no fixed end date — you draw on it and repay as you go. In the app, you can see the interest-free period for each transaction and how much time you have left to repay it. Terms & fees
Is Revolving Credit the only way to pay?
It's what Finley launches with. More ways to pay are coming later — we'll say so here and on How it works as soon as they're live. How it works
Where do I find the interest rate and fees?
On our Terms & fees page. We deliberately don't quote rates or repayment figures outside that page, so there's one place to check and it's always current. Terms & fees
Can I increase my credit limit?
Not yet through the app — contact us and we'll look into it for you. We're working on adding this to the app.
Can I repay early or pay off my balance in full?
Yes — you can repay part or all of your balance at any time, and there's no fee for doing it.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Default interest and fees may apply, and we may report the missed payment to a credit reporting agency. If you're struggling, contact us before it's due — we may be able to help, including a hardship variation under the CCCFA.
Paying in store
How do I actually pay at the counter?
Ask to pay with Finley at the counter, then complete the purchase by scanning the QR code in the app — or using your EasyCard, if you already have one.
Can I use Finley anywhere?
Only at participating retailers — and we're expanding fast. Check Where to use it before you shop — it lists stores that accept Finley as they come on board. Where to use it
What if a purchase needs to be refunded?
Contact the retailer where you made the purchase. If you paid by EasyCode or QR code, your refund is credited back to your Finley account once we receive it from the retailer.
Can someone else use my Finley account?
No. Finley accounts are personal — one person per account, and it can't be shared, transferred or used by anyone else, including family members.
Moving to Finley
Is EasyCard becoming Finley?
Finley is Pioneer Finance's new consumer credit product and it replaces EasyCard as the way we offer in-store finance going forward. As soon as Finley goes live, retailers who currently accept EasyCard transition across automatically.
Will my EasyCard stop working?
EasyCard isn't stopping — it's becoming Finley. It's a smooth transition to our new system and brand, not a cutover with a gap in between.
Does my EasyCard balance or account move across to Finley automatically?
Yes. As soon as Finley goes live, every EasyCard customer transfers across automatically — there's nothing you need to do.
Do I need to apply for Finley separately, or does my EasyCard account upgrade?
If you're already an EasyCard customer, no — your account upgrades to Finley automatically when it goes live, with no new application, identity check or bank connection needed. A separate application is only for people who don't already have an EasyCard account.
What happens to the store I use EasyCard at?
Merchants who already accept EasyCard are brought onto Finley through a dedicated process so they don't have to re-sign contracts they've already signed. Ask in store, or check Where to use it once Finley launches. Where to use it
I have a Fixed Instalment loan (formerly Smiths City Finance) — am I affected too?
Yes. Fixed Instalment contracts are moving across to Finley the same way EasyCard is. Your contract continues exactly as it is — same rate, same repayments, same term — and you'll be able to see your account details inside the Finley app.
Is this really Finley, or could it be a scam?
It's really us — but scams do target Pioneer Finance customers, so it's smart to check. We'll never ask for your password, PIN or one-time code by text, email or phone. If you're unsure, don't click a link — go directly to gofinley.co.nz or contact us on a number you already trust.
Your account & security
My phone or card is lost or stolen — what do I do?
Tell us immediately — you can't freeze your card in the app yet, so contact us directly and we'll put a hold on your account. We'll investigate any transaction you say you didn't authorise, and you won't be liable for it provided you've kept your login and device secure and told us promptly.
Do I have to use face or fingerprint verification?
No — you can use a PIN instead if you'd rather not use Face ID or biometrics. We highly recommend setting one of them up though, since it better protects your account.
Can I disconnect my bank account after I've connected it?
Yes, at any time in the app. Withdrawing consent doesn't undo anything done lawfully beforehand, and it may limit some features — like credit limit increases or budgeting tools.
Is my personal and financial data safe?
Yes — we handle your information under the Privacy Act 2020 and, for biometric data, the Biometric Processing Privacy Code. You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to correct it at any time.
Will applying for Finley affect my credit score?
No — applying for Finley doesn't affect your credit score.
Can I close my Finley account?
Yes — contact us to close your account once you've repaid everything you owe. This isn't self-serve in the app yet.
Problems, complaints & hardship
Something has gone wrong — who do I tell?
Tell us first, in the app, by phone or by email. We aim to acknowledge a complaint within 2 business days and resolve most within 10.
I'm not happy with how a complaint was handled.
You can ask for it to be escalated to our senior management, or take it free of charge to Financial Services Complaints Limited (FSCL), our external dispute resolution scheme.
I'm struggling to keep up with repayments.
Contact us as soon as you can. You may be entitled to apply for a hardship variation under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, and we'll work with you on it. Applying doesn't affect your right to also make a complaint.
